What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard, similar in spirit to robots.txt and sitemap.xml, but written for large language models rather than search-engine crawlers. It gives AI tools a clean, curated summary of your site and links to the pages you most want them to read and cite.
It is a single Markdown file placed at your site root. It starts with an H1 title, an optional summary blockquote, an optional paragraph of context, and then one or more ## sections listing your key links. A section named Optional tells AI tools those links can be skipped when context is tight.
Publishing one is a low-effort way to improve how AI answer engines understand and represent your brand — a core part of AI visibility (AEO/GEO).
